This canal companion describes the Kennet and Avon Canal linking Bristol with Reading, and the River Thames between Oxford and Brentford, in London. Between them, they pass through some of southern Englandís most beautiful scenery.

The Thames has long been a source of recreation for all manner of boaters and of course it is accompanied throughout by the Thames Path. In contrast, the Kennet & Avon had been allowed to fall into dereliction, and it was not until 1990 that it was reopened throughout.

At 93 miles in length and with 104 wide beam locks, the Kennet and Avon Canal is now recognised as one of the premier inland waterways in the country. This Canal Companion has established itself as one of the most reliable interpretations of the route, all the way from Bristolís Floating Harbour in the west, to the canalís meeting with the Thames at Reading.

The Kennet and Avon, and River Thames Pearson Canal companion uses large scale maps and diagrams that are accompanied by a wide-ranging documentary. It is of particular interest to boaters, walkers and cyclists providing descriptions of waterside towns and villages, listings on eating and drinking, shopping, visitor centres, public transport and boating facilities.

Reprinted in 2021, this is the 3rd Edition of this Kennet and Avon Pearson Canal Companion.
