Alfred Wainwright - an introduction Alfred Wainwright - an introduction

Fell-walking legend Alfred Wainwright has been inspiring visitors to the Lake District for over 50 years. Born in 1907, Wainwright's passion for walking and the Lake District began with a visit in 1930, and grew throughout his life. The classic handwritten Pictorial Guides, with their hand-drawn works of art have been best-sellers since they were published, and have recently been freshly reproduced from Wainwright's original pages. As well as the Pictorial Guides, Wainwright wrote and illustrated numerous other books, and became the subject of many others. We have included in our range Wainwright's classics, updated versions of some of his books, books about Wainwright, and a selection of related gifts.
